  3. Very, very awesome Lani. Looks mad enough for me to give it a looksie. Thanks for letting me know.

Mr. Rockjaw was very entertaining, too. All in all, thumbs up. =D

  4. I can't wait to see what you review next! I keep hoping for Saiyuki, which is one of my faves... But not many people know about it. Oh, well.

  7. Why do you dislike Peggy Hill, if you don't mind my asking.

    Oh, and kickass review.

  8. what song was paying after you said that Sakaki was stacked?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Of all the characters on X-play to use, you chose Johnny Extreme?

  10. Dear god, learn to use a mic...Turn down the volume!

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's scary how completely biased your "fans" are, not saying you suck (Well, not completely), you DO have potential... the editing was painful (When you were calling 9-1-1, you could tell the "Extreme" guy was looping (Couldn't film 10 seconds of you staring at nothing?) The mic input was too high, lower it down. Kill the "Extreme" guy while you're ahead, he's annoying, unfunny and not "extreme" at all...in fact, it makes me want to hurt him. I like your last part of your video, it felt like what your old videos resembled, simple, explanatory and not stupid. Just you explaining the anime is good, please leave it at that, leave the "extreme" to Angry Joe...he's good at it...you're not...
All in all...out of 10...I'd give it a 5/10... Something that I'd watch only once, and only because I had nothing better to do. I liked your previous Outside the Otaku, not this one. And please, don't just ignore this comment, as much as I dislike you, I see some potential for legitimate entertainment. So don't ignore it because you can't take negative comments, I tried to give feedback, take it or leave it. I recommend practicing with green/blue screen. Use a bit less light (We could see your shadow) And I know you're tempted to improvise your work, but please, dear god, Script something! I notcied some of it is scripted, but please, leave improv to when you do improv groups, not when you're doing an actual video. P.S: Leaving my identity secret because I know your fans will troll me if I leave something. But I DO watch your videos and WILL leave comments from now on. (Hopefully, you'll improve by next video.)

  13. Balls to the walls!! I loved Mr.Rockjaw 'cause he reminded me of Johnny Xtreme from X-play, back when it was funny and not a sell-out piece of shit that bores the hell out of me.

    Extreme to the Max!!!

  14. Whos blog is this? Mr. Anon writes a page-alot's? It was entertaining, sorry were not all nitpicking assholes... >.> If you're gonna be like that at least show who you are... As for the anime itself, it looks interesting enough that I might check it out... TO THE EXTREEEEEEEMMMEEEEEE >:D *SMASHES BOTTLE ON NUTS* YEAHHHH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Right I left it out, I read Mr. Anon's post and I neglected to point out how much of a hypocrite he is that we would "troll" him if he didn't stay Anon... What's wrong can't take any negativity? I understand what you're saying Anon... but... You're obviously trolling considering how much of an asshole you come off as...

  16. I hope the next one will be saiyuki!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  17. Awesome to see that you decided to do one of the best animes ever!

X-D You're totally right! She DOES act like she's stoned!!

Tomo would DEFINITELY be partners in crime with Rockjaw!!

    Tomo: 空!青!
    Rockjaw: F*CK YEAH IT IS!!!!
    X-D

Rockjaw mellowing out to Chiyo-chan's cooking song?! EPIC!!!!

You wanna see how EEEXXXTRRREEEEAAAAMMMMM Azumanga really is? ;-) Someone put an AMAZING AMV on youtube, that is so wrong, yet so accurate... (I wish I had the kid of skillz to think this up. But I bet you could go toe-to-toe with this kind of epicness.)

    Bravo, Lani. Great vid. :)

  18. Very enjoyable video, really makes me want to get the anime!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Very good! I personally enjoyed that series myself, though I wish you had thrown in the seen where Chiyo rips off her hair in Osaka's daydream. XD

By the way...did that kool-aid do anything else to you? You were kinda transparent at the end with you background showing through you! XD

    ReplyDelete
  20. there's only one word to sum up this video. EXTREMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I lol'd so hard XD kudos lani!!! x

    ReplyDelete
  21. EXTREME! Oh, and in response as to the person who asked why Peggy Hill is a terrible character is how bad she is.
I can see the point in making a woman who believes she knows everything yet knows almost nothing about the world outside of middle school can make for a good butt of jokes, but it gets old and the character just came off as annoying. There were some redeeming qualities to her but they were just drowned out by her pure arrogance and stupidity to the point where you really wanted her to die when she went sky-diving.

    ReplyDelete
  22. the extreme stuff didn't really do it for me, but I do hope to see more outside the otaku in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's funny that the knife scene pretty much is the perfect description of Osaka. I used the exact same scene when I reviewed the manga.

    ReplyDelete
  24. XD now I want to watch this...
    EXTREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

    ReplyDelete
  25. what a twist at the end!
i never thought we'd see or hear from the overlord ever again! granted we now know who the overlord really is...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Okay, which gutter did the crankhead cousin of 90's Kid crawl out of? As a service to all of your fans, could you please shoot him no less than three times in the neck with a high caliber round? Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. magnus rockjaw reminds me of johnny x-tream from x-play, do i smell rip off? lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh snap, the Overlord. Shit just got real up in this bitch...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love the anime overlord refrence, since everyone knows thats lani already its funny how he just stuck it in the vid XD

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Mean pussy" had me ROFLing. AD is one of my fave shows. Most hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  31. wait. from what you discribed about this anime, it sounds alot like School rumble. not that i'm dissing eather of those shows, it's that they sound extreamly alike. go and watch this show and then watch school rumble, i'm sure you'll find about a million connections to this anime.

  32. Just a quick little piece of advice..if you are using green screen or blue screen, try to wear clothes that are a much different color than the screen. Saw a bit of the background image on the design of your shirt. Great video tho =)

    ReplyDelete
  33. hey lani nice review but next time dont wear a blue shirt while shooting on a blue screen the background was showing up on your shirt all ghost like

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm sorry to say this Lani, as I usually love your stuff, but this video didn't showcase your talents-- in fact, in my opinion, it's probably your worst yet.

Your video would've been 100x better if you left it at the calm, natural review you began to conduct at 1:17, ended at 2:23, and resumed at 8:15. Outside those time slots, your jokes felt very forced-- and truly, that's a shame because you're quite the comic! In fact, even here, your material wasn't all that bad, but you corrupted what could've been a great little piece with the "extreme" character. Don't get me wrong, I see what you were trying to do with him, and, in theory, it was a good idea, but its execution was flawed. That character was contrived, and dull, and, instead of bettering your work, he only served to annoy viewers. I hope you understand.

I'm not gunna be condescending like WXYZ, like I said I love your stuff, and I get that not everything can be a hit 100% of the time. I'm just here to point out what I see is all. Can't wait for your next video!

  35. Awesome review, Azu is one of my favorite animes and you just reminded me why.

Think I'll go watch it again.

    ReplyDelete
  36. To Jin...

Azumanga Daioh outdates School Rumble as a manga by three years. I dunno if you were trying to make any accusations or if you were just pointing out an observation. If the latter is the case, then I'd have to assume you're right (as I've only seen AzuDai).

And to Lani... Nice vid dude. Keep up the good work here and with YYHA and DBZA.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Anon who mentioned Magnus Rockjaw reminded them of Johnny X-treme... Its such an obvious parody of the character that its not a ripoff... I guess he thought most if not all of his fans would get it =D

    ReplyDelete
  38. The overlord...has returned.

    EXTREEEEEEEEEEME

    ReplyDelete
  39. You're finally using that Overlord guy you never used in the abridging war? I always wondered what was up with him..

    ReplyDelete
  40. lol question lani..y are u somewhat ethereal and transparent?

    ReplyDelete
  41. EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME

    ReplyDelete
  42. that was freakin halarious nicely done lani I think i might watch this show in the future

    ReplyDelete
  43. This was definiteley one of my favorite videos I've seen from you. My only problems were the Blue/Green screen and some of the sound levels but other than that I thought it was awesome. Keep up the great work. TO THE MAX!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. ...Uh. So yeah. I just stumbled onto this from twitter and the review was uh... Interesting? I don't really know anything about video editing blah blah but you've got respect for Azumanga Daioh. So you're pretty much awesome. ~ Also looking through the comments... WXYZ. My dear god you're a douchebag. Who the hell do you think you are acting like you're the director of acclaimed movies or something? No I'm not a 'fan' of this guy, I don't even really know who he is, but seriously. Come on. If you think you're so great and know everything about video editing and making. Why don't you go and make your own version of this? Get a life and quit making yourself look like a person with a huge ego that makes others seem lucky if they receive any of the idiotic and just rude comments you send. Just get the hell out.

  47. If you want to see an anime with absolutely no plot and is full of so much crack that you'll feel like you're on an acid trip, look no further than "Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei."

    ReplyDelete
  48. Really glad your back Lani. Miss your videos. Love your "Outside the Otaku" reviews. Lets me know which other anime to watch. Nice job!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've not seen this anime, although I've heard of it. You've made me curious, it seems very ESTREEEEEEEMMMMMMEEEEEE -MistofBrina

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nice. I wish you'd have mentioned Kagura along with the rest of the cast, but well done otherwise.

If you don't mind, I have a suggestion of my own for you to review.

You've heard of Christian cartoons, right? Have you ever heard of Christian anime?

Enter Superbook: an anime concocted by Pat Robertson as the most effective way to reach Japanese audiences. It involved a robot, boy and girl, who time-travel between the present and the time of the Bible stories as a way to learn about the Bible. When shown in America, nearly all references to Japan were removed, as anime had not yet become popular in the States. For reasons unclear, it ended it's episodes saying "Superbook! Superbook!" in chorus, over and over and over.

This was the first anime I ever saw, before I even knew what anime was, shown to me at a Catholic private school.
